We changed our site and we are now located at:

http://www.PulpitPodcast.org if any church members or pastors want to send us sermon cassettes we will convert them and host podcasts. Email for information at pulpitpodcast@gmail.com

Our service focuses on taking the labor out of the process. Send us your tapes or CDs and we will take it from there. We are currently running a no-fee program which costs basically $20 per podcast which includes a free homepage.

Great Blog. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Still in the pilot phase of deployment; however, wound up settling on SermonCast. http://dev.hillsborobaptsit.org. Just have to plug SermonCast’s support. Responsive and helpful. Definitely worth a look for smaller church sites with a limited budge.

I have been working for Casting Words almost from when they started with MTurk, as a high-grade transcriptionist. My opinion probably is from the ‘other side of grass’ but let me tell you they never reward a grade ‘10′ to anyone. I have got grade ‘9′ which is the second best, several times and even asked for the corrected version of the final transcript of some of my files but they just refused to provide with…lol. Hell, I can tell you they’re pretty much quality conscious people. I still work for them thru MTurk and would admit that since they make the payments to turkers pretty smoothly, turkers like me don’t have much problem working for them.

Thanks for the comments. If you read other posts on the site, and even the summary of this post, it states that for “the company, university, or agency” that is releasing podcasts “the law states that it needs to be captioned.” I actually did speak with legal representation who deals with these cases for a state agency before writing the original post and was told, in so many words, that a lawsuit would most likely not be brought against a weekend podcaster releasing a short video on something unique such as a record collection.

Technology is getting better to do captioning, as you state, and I think the effort should be made to do so by everyone. In the very near future, though, software such as iMovie will start to come with a plug-in to do captioning, giving everyone a quick way to do it.

If you are using a certain software or have found good, quick, or easy ways to caption your videos, please share them.
